Winter 2012
Dear Friends;
Happy New Year 2012! Now that the holidays are over, winter seems to be saying to us “Be still and know that I am God.” The trees are bare, the flowers are gone, animals snuggled in for the winter, the nights are long, and it is all seemingly very quiet. Winter is when the earth and all its life gather new strength, new energy to spring forth into renewed life. Yet, each year the trees and plants grow fuller and taller, bringing forth greater abundance of beauty and fruit. This is how it is for when we meditate, and in the silence “Be still and know that I am God.” We are given new vitality, new spiritual understanding, and renewed life to meet our day. We are more focused to meet what comes before us to handle, and everything is just more harmonious. We also have an inner glow of joy that says, “Life is good!” Join us for meditation every Wednesday at 6-7pm.
Your New Board! First we give thanks to our outgoing Board member Richard Long for serving as Secretary 2010-11. Say hello to Rich Rios as Secretary, Mark Stuefloten as Treasurer, and Rev. Hilde as Vice-President. Gene Turner is once again our President.
New eight week Sunday series carrying us through March. Being 2012, it deemed an appropriate time to do a series on the Book of Revelation. This symbolic and mysterious book has confounded seekers since it had been part of our Bible. Many people are feared by its symbols and visions of woe popularly known as the “End Times.” Yet hidden in the symbols is a grand message for us all. This series will begin on February 5, with an introduction. Each week Rev. Christine will share metaphysical interpretations, along with her knowledge and insights of 20 plus years of teaching metaphysical Bible. Following services at 12:30-1pm (following social and refreshments) we will have an open discussion.
Celestine Prophecy the Movie will be shown following the Sunday Service on Feb. 5, at 1pm. There will be an open discussion following this showing. DSCC showed this movie back in 2006 with a long awaited great enthusiasm. This is a wonderful story of a man’s spiritual journey with many exciting adventures. Donations welcome.
Spring Equinox Ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, March 21, at 7pm. We are planning a very special evening with Sufi dance and music by local artist Sophia. There will be a sacred ceremony for our blessings and prayers. In many religious traditions this is considered a new year. Spring bringing forth new buds on trees and flowers unfolding, and wildlife giving birth. Donations welcome.
A Big Thank You to all of you who responded to the call for year-end donations. Your monetary gifts helped immensely in covering our unexpected expenses. This spiritual organization runs 100% on donations. We thank you for being a channel for God’s good to flow. We gratefully appreciate every gift received, and knowing God as our true source, we also say - Thank you God!
